Garneau Evolution starts another season with a dominating 1st and 2nd place win at the dEVo Spring Series #1: River Road.

GE’s new man, Greg Christian, took the 110km season opener with minutes to spare over what was left of the group. Christian made a solo attack in the first 10km of the race, while GE teammate Jeff Werner managed to shake the pack and bridge up to him soon after. The two spent the next 50km tearing up the course—and the field. They eventually had over five minutes on everyone, with Christian never missing a beat or slowing down.

Werner eventually let off some of the pressure, and Christian—after offering to slow down for his teammate—rode the last 20km of the race alone, soloing to his, and the team’s, win. Thanks to Christian’s power and determination, Werner managed to hang on to second place, rolling in a minute or so before the chase group sprinted for third.

Erik Mulder, another new addition to the GE 2012 roster, went head-to-head in a flat-out sprint with H&R Block’s Mike Sidic, missing the podium by a wheel length.
