Enumclaw TT: fast and 14th

Buckosky on the TT start line.

Just finished the Stage I Time Trial here at 2011 Enumclaw, WA. Fast 10k course, with one small kick of a hill and the rest flat or even slightly downhill. Weather was calm and damp, but the rain held off.

Riders were at 30 second intervals in reverse alphabetical order, so Werner, Thompson, Abercrombie, Howard and Buckosky were spread across the 77 starts (Abercrombie somehow put out of order by the organizers).

Tim had our best showing in a time of 13:04.7. There was some concern his new Garneau TT bike still needed some dialling, Tim having only ridden it for the first time last Thursday. But the bike performed and so did Tim, putting himself in the top 15, 32 seconds down from the TT winner, Team Exergy’s Sam Johnson.

Howard had a kicking TT, too, at 13:39.3. Buckosky and Werner came in at 13:51 and 14:12, respectively (not bad; Bucky has been picking it up the last few weeks).Thompson, despite missing his start by 47 seconds, still managed a sub-14 minute.

Manager Jak New just came in from the North to provide support for the criterium at 5pm tonight, and tomorrow’s 138km road race. Lunch was had and tactics discussed at a ‘biker’ bar down from the hotel. The forecast (for weather) is still iffy; for the crit we’re gonna keep the top guys from getting those time bonuses.
